frsc44#The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has embarked on a four-day special patrol along Abuja-Kaduna express to ensure zero accident along the highway.
Speaking at the commencement of the patrol yesterday, the Corps Marshal, Mr Oyeyemi Boboye, said the step became necessary following the spate of crashes being recorded along the expressway on which was becoming rather too frequent.
Oyeyemi said the operation, which would run from June 24 to June 27 would focus more on speed, worn-out tyres, overloading, lane violation and other traffic violations.
Represented by Assistant Corps Marshal in charge of Federal Operations, FRSC Headquarters, Mrs Mary Wakawa, Oyeyemi said the operation would run simultaneously in other flashpoint highways in the country.

He identified such areas to include Ibadan -Lagos expressway and Benin-Asaba expressway.
According to him, the three corridors on the spotlight of the operation are mapped out because they record the highest crashes rate in the country.
“We are concentrating our attention and resources on Abuja-Kaduna expressway and the other highways because of the high rate of accidents being recorded on weekly bases.
“The target is to employ preventive mechanism by ensuring zero accident on the roads throughout the operation period and beyond,” Oyeyemi said.
Oyeyemi said that FRSC’s mandate was to ensure zero road crashes on Nigerian roads, “but we have continued to witness accidents on our roads.
